NCCA Programs and Activities (2002-3):

Our programs and activities are planned to support our NCCA Purpose Statement:

As professional coaches we come together, synergistically creating heart-centered relationships,

to encourage growth in ourselves and others,

to contribute to the cutting edge of our profession, and

to spread the benefits of coaching to the greater community.

In the last few years we have built up a repertoire of programs and activities that address the first (growth in ourselves) and third (spread coaching to the community) prongs of our purpose statement.  This year, we have picked a theme to help us concentrate on the second prong (contribute to the cutting edge of our profession): Coaching Profession--Possibilities for a Better World.  We will build many of our usual programs and activities around that theme as we develop it throughout the year.  Possibilities include:

  1. Our Professional Development—encourage growth in ourselves and others

·        The NCCA Meetings

·        Spring Event

·        Fall Event

·        Summer Coaching League

·        Holiday Potluck

·        Small group discussions

·        Invest in resources (tapes, books, etc??)

  1. Contribute to the cutting edge of our profession
    1. Year-long focus (study groups, panels, and speakers) on “Coaching Profession—Possibilities for a Better World”
    2. Programs (panels, study groups, speakers, special circle) to understand and be proactive about state and federal regulatory issues  (coaching vs. therapy, credentialing, etc.)
    3. Interface with ICF—keep abreast of ICF doings; communicate to ICF to affect direction of international organization and profession (chapter leader calls, ICF conferences, etc.)
    4. Proactively participate in local ICF events and other coaching profession events (DCF, BCA, Coachville, coaching schools, etc.)
  2. Coaching in our communities—spread the benefit of coaching to the community
    1. “A Taste of Coaching”  (International Coaches Week)
    2. Coaching Outreach Projects--pro bono coaching for non-profit leaders, teachers/principals; outreach to youth; drop-in coaching
    3. One or two public events such as Holistic Arts Fair, Chamber of Commerce event, New West Fest, other?
