Background

Our intentions are to further the development of the coaching field and that NCCA maintain its professional designation. Currently, NCCA by-laws limit membership to ICF members, so as a result, trained and practicing coaches who have chosen not to join ICF are ineligible for NCCA membership.   In light of the fact that the ICF has not yet become the one professional coaching organization that all coaches join, we believe that establishing less restrictive membership requirements is the right thing to do. Therefore, we are following the lead of both the Boulder Coaches Alliance (an ICF Charter Chapter like NCCA) and the Denver Coach Federation and proposing two levels of membership: Professional NCCA Membership and Associate NCCA Membership.

NCCA Professional Membership is open to people who:

  1. Are certified through the ICF (MCC, PCC, ACC) or,
  2. Are certified through an ICF-accredited coach training program, or
  3. Demonstrate their intent to coach by:

Associate NCCA Membership

Reserved for those who are not eligible for Professional membership as outlined above.

Prior to joining NCCA, prospective members must attend one and may attend up to three meetings as a guest.  The appropriate level of membership (Professional or Associate) will be determined through discussion with the membership chairperson.

Responsibilities of NCCA Members

*NCCA Membership year runs from April 1 to March 31.
