How do I need to be a leader today?

• In relationships
• At home, being authentic in my family
• In other organizations I’m a part of
• Marketing my book
• In my job, leading through influence
• Giving everybody room around me to expand and grow
• The Coaching Symposium is composed of all volunteers
• Playing with the “big boys & girls” who don’t have the same values as I do
• Having integrity with my method of leadership
• My view of leadership is shifting, from Being Important (exerting force) to Being Authentic and Connected (things just flow)
• I want to be aligned with the True Spirit and the Real Energy – separations can dissolve
• Leadership is all about coaching
• I need to create and articulate a vision
• I need to be in service to people
• I need to keep trusting my intuition and knowing

ICF conference update – Christine

• We need more volunteers!
• Joan will go to the October meeting next Wednesday and is looking for a co-chair for the Ambassador Program
• Brainstorm
• Coordinate conference call
• Irene will also be at meeting next Wednesday
• Attending conference: 6 people at today's meeting
• Need volunteers for:
  • Pre-conference setup
  • Pre-conference bookstore setup
  • Colorado coaches' booth
  • Ambassadors program - contact Joan King
  • Meditation room - pillows, music, etc.

Colorado legislation update – Christine

• The Colorado Coalition of Coaches (CCC) is group to influence legislation in Colorado
• Hired a lobbyist
• A message should go out to Colorado coaches next week
• Working within the Department of Regulatory Affairs which regulates professions
• Bill will propose that coaches are exempt from regulation, like some other professions
• Lobbyist recommends that we say coaches must have coach-specific training, must state that we don’t do psychotherapy, and don’t do psychotherapy
• Informational meeting coming up for people who want to find out about how this is going
• $6000 in contributions so far from individual coaches across the country!
• We would like to get a roster of the NCCA members which includes addresses, so we can identify who peoples’ representatives are
• Carl will send out a message to NCCA members to ask for addresses
• The CCC is looking for ways to have legislators attend conference and/or meet ICF leaders

Summer Coaching League - Irene

• This was a long and grueling season this year, there were a lot of injuries, but we somehow survived :-)
• Thank you everyone for making this a success!

What did you get out of it?

• Got to know people, extended conversations
• I flaked out a lot this summer
• I found out that reporting back was an obligation that wasn’t important, I just met with people
• It was one of the few opportunities I had to talk with people one-on-one, to connect more deeply
• It seems like each person got something different out of the conversations

Each month NCCA will broadcast no more than: meeting announcements, (1) meeting notes, and 3 other messages When events or opportunities are broadcast via e-mail, they must be sponsored by an NCCA member as being of interest to the broader NCCA community There are two e-mail lists: NCCA Members:  Normally these are also listed on website unless a member specifically requests otherwise Non-members receive notes from meetings, announcement of membership meetings, and messages of interest to broad coaching community The two lists are not made public (except members listed on website), and the messages will use BCC to make the distribution invisible The e-mail lists are maintained by the NCCA Secretary If a member has no e-mail access, no provision is made to contact that person in other ways When someone changes their e-mail address, they should inform the NCCA Secretary and Webmaster Every message will include instructions on why this person is receiving the message, and how to unsubscribe from future mailings These guidelines do not include non-broadcast e-mails for specific communication between individuals or groups – no limit or restriction on those

KRFC coaching show – Anne

• Anne has done a demo and training to put a coaching talk show in place
• It would be much easier with several people, and it doesn’t feel so much like someone promoting their practice
• John, Joan, Lynne, Christine are interested in helping
• Anne will lead a meeting about this topic, please contact Anne if you're interested

NoCoNet Coaching presentation – John

• John would like help on delivering a description of coaching at the NoCoNet meeting on October 13th
