Colorado Coalition of Coaches

A team of Colorado Coaches came together and formed the Colorado Coalition of Coaches (C3) to address a legislative coaching community issue in Colorado.

This is a brief update regarding the status of our effort to prevent the mental health laws in our state from negatively impacting our profession.

We now have our web site up: www.ColoradoCoaches.com including:

The Colorado Coalition of Coaches (C3) is currently initiating its grassroots legislative strategy. This effort has been endorsed by all three ICF chapters in Colorado, DCF, BAC, NCCA, the International Coach Federation (ICF), International Association of Coaches (IAC), Worldwide Association of Business Coaches (WABC), and Association of Coach Training Organizations (ACTO). Over 150 individual coaches and coaching businesses from throughout Colorado and the Nation have made contributions to the effort so far.

We have hired a professional lobbyist, Mr. Ron Smith, to take our message to the state legislators. Ron is a well seasoned and highly regarded professional with over 20 years of experience and is already hard at work on our behalf. Through the generosity and partnership of many in the Coaching profession we are able to pay Ron's fees and are preparing for our first volunteer training. In order for us to fully honor our commitment to ensure the Coaching profession is free to evolve without government regulation or control, we still need your help.

Time is of the essence. We have established a web site at www.ColoradoCoaches.com to keep you posted on our progress and an e-alert program you can enroll in, which is: ColoradoCoaching-subscribe@yahoogroups.com (some of you receiving this letter may already be subscribed to this list).

We are confident that upon reviewing the site you will appreciate the importance of this work and we encourage you to join the e-alert list so we can keep you apprised of our work each step of the way.

Our request is that you pass this information on to other Coaches you know who may be unaware of or lack accurate information regarding the challenge the Coaching community is now facing. The Colorado Coalition of Coaches, (C3) will be hosting an informational meeting to provide you with the opportunity to meet the Team Members, Legislators and our Lobbyist on:

NoCoNet

Wonderful NCCA Coaches,

This week the Coaches day at NoCoNet (Northern Colorado Networking group) was confirmed for Monday, November 17th.  The presentation will begin at 9AM and we will break out to coach small groups at 9:20AM.  I know most of you are highly involved in the upcoming ICF conference and this opportunity will fall on the Monday after you have just spent an exhilarating several days at the ICF conference.  What a bonus for the members of NoCoNet to have a group of top notch and supercharged coaches come coach them!

The meeting starts at 8:30AM and we will go over our job leads and report on the companies we are watching until 9AM.  At 9AM I will give a 20 minute presentation on "How Coaching Helped My Job Transition".

Following this we will break out into small groups for 25 to 35 minutes of coaching.  I am hoping we have at least 8 coaches join me for this.

Three coaches have confirmed that they will be there so far.  If you would send me (john_r_spencer@msn.com) an email and tell me that you intend to come unless otherwise hindered, I would appreciate having that information.

The NoCoNet meeting will be at Christ United Methodist Free Church 301 EAST Drake in Fort Collins.  If you travel EAST three blocks from College until you come to the overhead signal lights then turn south on Tulane.  Go south on Tulane and turn into the first parking lot entrance.  Proceed to the glass doors on the east side of the building and just inside you will see the stairs that lead to the fellowship hall where we meet.

Thank you in advance for your willing participation,

John
