- Have been practicing mock laser coaching on teleconference
- Spend some time critiquing each other, it’s helping me to become a better
coach
- We’re going to set up a regular time: To be announced shortly
- We’ve learned some of the nuts & bolts about handling callers, getting the
right "tone" for the show, how we want the listener to feel/react to the show.
Clearly we’re about service, moving people forward in their lives
- We’ve gotten feedback that KRFC is interested but no time is set up yet
- We’re learning a LOT
- We want to develop a final proposal in about 2 months
- The station manager has a good relationship with her coach which helps a
lot
- They’re looking for a diversity of voices and approaches for the station
Leadership - Christine
- Next month we will be passing the torch to the new leadership team
- Carl will continue as Secretary
- Bobbie will continue as membership liaison
- Martha has been treasurer, Christine has been president & thing 1, Lynne
has been vice president & thing 2
- We’re having problems getting people to volunteer
- Christine has been acting as the ICF contact person, there’s lots of
emails that happen in connection with this – this would be a great opportunity
for someone who wants to be connected with what’s happening with the ICF
- Treasurer job is not a lot of time, maybe 15 minutes a month
- The roles and responsibilities are extremely flexible
- Lynne is willing to continue to host meetings at her house
- We don’t really do voting, we do affirmations to support people who have
volunteered to do certain roles
- Anne might be interested in doing a role for a few months
- Joan wants to nominate Sue for a role, she’s a good project director
- Sue would be happy to play a role, but can be difficult when she has to
travel. Not interested in the ICF e-mail thing
- John would be interested in being an e-mail contact, perhaps being a thing
2
- Anne is very interested in creating a listening space for each of us in
the group
- Sue and Anne willing to share a leadership role?
- Joan would volunteer to be in the background, a supporter, a consultant
- Mandy is interested in treasurer, will contact Martha, no commitments yet
- Next: Christine to work with Carl to send out an affirmation solicitation
once Christine closes with the volunteers on the new roles
- New leadership will be announced at next meeting
What would you like to get out of this group this year?
- Bobbie/ Sharing learnings about coaching. What works for us in our
coaching. Difficult to attract outside speakers. We’ve been
invited by BCA to join them at presentations they have
- Joan/ Use it as an exploratory group. For instance I’m looking into
group coaching and want to develop the idea, exploring and evaluating, using
the group as advisors. Keep the group a safe place for new ideas.
- Jeff/ Coaches will grow if there’s new places to learn and be successful.
Getting expert advice about building a business, helping each other out.
Understanding what each person does so we can point people to the right place
of expertise in the group.
- Anne/ Garner the expert advice that exists in our circle. Helping
each other. Getting to know each other, finding resources, supporting.
- Luci/ Offering pearls to each other
- John/ Irene organized the summer coaching league. It was hard to get
consistency even though people wanted to follow through. It was
wonderful when we did that. Maybe we should focus more on that this
summer to stay more connected with each other. Summer would be a great
time to do that, things tend to be "down" during the summer.
- Anne/ Maybe reserve some time at our meetings to have some of these
one-on-one conversations?
- Sue/ Bring in people from the outside when we can get people who know what
they’re doing.
- Sue/ I’d love to get connected with other organizations. Other
networking groups
- Carl/ I saw this work well in the HP Coaching Network.
- Sharon / Use group as "my board of directors", I could share and get
feedback and advice. Without any one person monopolizing the time.
We could all share our ideas with each other. Kind of a "mastermind
group".
- Sharon/ I know a person [Adrian] who is phenomenal about marketing, has a
real passion about helping people in this area.
- Clay/ What is preventing people who aren’t here today from participating?
What do they need? Joan/ We’re going to probe into this in the next
month, sending out a message asking for feedback and advice.
- Christine/ Talk more about this profession of coaching. What are the
big questions we need to tackle? How will this mature?
- Christine/ Have a mentoring setup, maybe every third meeting we focus on
mentoring.
- Joan/ We had some opportunities for a few of us to get together to focus
on spiritual coaching, that was great.
- Joan will send out query to the group through Carl, please email thoughts
to Joan
- Christine/ I’d like to have membership require people to be a little more
engaged in the group, not just a member in name only. Joan and Bobbie
will be looking into this issue and ask everyone for advice.
- John/ It can be great for people to come in to meetings when they need the
support. But we do need peoples’ involvement to make this group work.
Not all the time, but show up SOMEhow.
- Anne/ We can look into a different meeting format, even teleconference,
some people might really love that.
- Joan/ We might be able to get some of the more experienced coaches to be
here for a meeting focused on mentoring. Might have to be in the
evening.
- Joan/ We definitely want feedback on time of meetings
- Clay/ I’ll be traveling a lot of time, it can make it tough for me to be
physically at meetings. We should look at ways of interacting outside of
meetings. Maybe leverage Boulder group’s presentations.
- Luci/ How about breakfast meetings?
- Christine/ We could periodically have meetings via teleconference, it’s
easier for people to do logistically
- Lynne/ And have a few parties a year.
- Joan/ After our renovation is done, we could host a party at my place.
- John/ In the Fall, have coaches come to NoCoNet to coach again?
- Joan/ We’ll have an indepth discussion of this topic next month.
