Lloyd Thomas: What is Life Coaching Really?
- Lloyd did a wonderful job of introducing Life Coaching as a way to help
you build the kind of life which is truly possible when you understand the
immature cognitive conclusions that we all reach from our childhood.
- "I define success as whatever brings you to a state of contentment"
- "We are spiritual beings having a physical experience"
- Lloyd contrasted coaching with therapy, and the medical model for
diagnosing illness
- Lloyd described his book,
Total Life Coaching, which digs into 52 areas for coaches and clients to
enhance the impact of coaching.
- What is the coaching process? It's different for each client
relationship, but there's common general principles which are used.
These are described in the book, in ICF core competencies, and many other
places.
- "Happiness is when you are Engaged and experience something which is
Meaningful and Pleasurable"
- To what degree does the coach have accountability for results?
- A coach mustn't promise more than he or she can deliver
- It's a collaborative relationship
- It's important for the coach to monitor progress and discuss this
with the client
- "Accountability is sharpening the focus of the picture"
